Hanuka Fun project lights up the holiday
Thousands of children from hundreds of elementary schools across thee country took part in our Hanuka Fun project and helped put a smile on the faces of sick and handicapped children.
Every year at Hanuka we at Haverim distribute thousands of envelopes at elementary schools across the country, the children send them back to us with drawings and get well wishes for the sick and handicapped children we care for.
The children not only sent heartwarming wishes and beautiful drawings but many felt the need to include small gifts, chocolates and sweets. Many also put in their Hanuka Gelt (traditionally children get some money as a special gift in Hanuka).
Our volunteers distributed these letters and gifts to hospitalized children and this helped put a big smile on their faces, we used the small donations to hold Hanuka parties at the hospitals.
It is very touching to see young children care so much for others, for the handicapped and the sick and it gives us the hope and strength to go on in our mission.
