Beautiful writing program between Jewish community in NY and sick children in Israel this past Chanuka
"I would like you to create a little world where you can drift off anytime you like. It's done by using your imagination. Imagining is a great thing to do, to feel good, to forget anything bad."

Thus writes Jennifer a 14 year old girl from Queens, New York to one of the hundreds of young children here in the hospital who would surely like to drift off to somewhere else and feel better. She received Chanukah greetings from Jennifer via "Haverim-Friends for Health" and their program of letter writing to children in the hospital for the holidays, this time from the Jewish community in Queens NY.

For four years the program has been operating between Israeli schools and the organization, and this year they took it to a whole new level, by including schools from the US in the program.
Yechiel Landman on behalf of "Friends for Health", said he derived much pleasure from seeing the tremendous amount of care and love put into the preparation of the letters. "The children really put their hearts and souls into these drawings and the kids here are going to love them. Even without the words they speak to them.
This is an opportunity to cross borders and boundaries and let hearts speak to one another. The lights of Chanukah add extra meaning to the whole situation. The pictures are bright and light and full of warmth. They are all different from one another".
One of the children drew a pictionary with sweet pictures of a dreidel, of donuts, of Chanukah gelt, and so on. This year I believe Chanukah was a little brighter, a little happier for some of our children in the hospitals and next year G-d willing they'll be home.
