"
Haverim-Friends for Health" makes direct connections between patients in need of life-saving medicines and those who have them but no longer need them. Without "Friend"'s initiative, these medications would just lie unused or get thrown out, wasting millions of dollars and the chance to save many lives!
Regulations for Donating and Receiving Unneeded Medicines "Friends" has set up a system whereby you can directly donate the medicine you don't need, to those who desperately do need them. This initiative started about two years ago when the directors of our life-saving program realized that when sick people either got better, changed their prescriptions, or passed away, they and their families were often left with expensive medications they no longer had any need for and didn't know what to do with.
So why not give them to someone who did?
These people were grateful to be of assistance to other sick people and this 'medications recycling' quickly turned into a major initiative supplying much-needed medicines to people all over Israel. Since these drugs cannot be returned to the manufacturers or the doctors and would just have been trashed, this project saves the economy an enormous amount of money by keeping these medicines in use.
How You Can Help
If you have unneeded and/or expensive meds at home, you can either fill in the medications donation form online or call our offices. The donation details will be entered into the medications donation database and our matching system will find a suitable recipient from our national database of requests.
A "Haverim-Friends for Health" representative will contact the appropriate recipient and give them the donor's details.
How You Can Receive a Med That You Need
If you need or know someone who needs a particular med, you can either complete the medication donation request form online or fax our office – 03-5792223.
IMPORTANT
"Friends" and the medication donors are not responsible for the nature of the meds. The recipient alone is responsible for receiving the meds and using them as prescribed and for making sure the date is valid.
