'Hannukah Fun' project launched at Yeshiva Sha'arei Zion (Queens, NY)

It all began with an Israeli child, hospitalized in Schneider Hospital.

Haverim's volunteer visit the children, bring them surprises and treats and try to make them feel, for a little while, like their friends outside.

Towards Hannukah we decided to tell their story to Jewish children in the U.S., to see if the U.S. kids would like to send their wishes and encouragement to a child across the sea!

We designed a special card and asked the chidlren of Yeshiva Sha'arei Zion in Queens, New York to write a personal letter to a child and to give a symbolic tzedakka towards a small gift. The card was then placed in a special envelope (below) and sent to Israel.

SPECIAL UPDATE:

The yeshiva students showed huge enthusiasm for the project, participating whole-heartedly. They created true masterpieces of art, which were later sent to Israel, together with dreidls, choclates, candies and gifts.

The envelopes all reached their target, as the pictures below show:

Sending off a Hannukah greeting to Israel!

Happy Hannukah!
