Recycling Medication, 45Million NIS worth

Over 45 million NIS worth of medications have already been distributed to needy patients thru Haverim unique medicine recycling project.

Many patients in Israel find themselves at a bind as they can not afford to buy much needed medications, some of these medications are expansive and are not provided by Israeli HMOs.

Elderly and poor chronically ill patients survive on meager pensions and can not afford even the most common medications.

Our project is intended for all.

Haverim operates a unique project of medication recycling,Many times this is a life saving procedures- some 10 million NIS worth were distributed to over 800 cancer patients and another 3 million NIS helped 3000 chronically ill patients.

How do we recycle medications ?
The medication is collected at our offices, our pharmacist thank checks package integrity and dates. The names and details of former patients are erased and medications are stored in our specialized medication storage room, equipped with standard pharmacy refrigerators and storage facilities.. Our office matches these medications to patients who need the it and can't afford to pay.

One of our donor's are Eli's family, Eli fought cancer for 9 year before his body just couldn't cope anymore and he passed away at the age of 75. A few days after his death the family gathered up 12 bags full of medications and brought them to the offices of Haverim. Eli's daughter, Einat said "Aba was a generous person who loved to help. From out of the mourning and the sadness we are glad that we could continue his ways and donate the medications and help others fight for their lives."

Most of our aid receivers are cancer patients or chronically ill patients. They send in their prescriptions and our staff prepares packages of medications, these are sent to the patients either by an emissary or by registered mail in a padded envelope.

The entire process is free of charge on the part of the patient.
