Unique one day seminar for Orthodox women on Cancer- Spiritual and medical aid combined
''Thank you for the important information, fascinating and educational, keep up the good work'' those were just a few of the compliments paid to ' Haverim- friends for health' after a unique day seminar on breast cancer that was held recently at Bene Brak.
The seminar was intended for ultra Orthodox women only in order to allow them access to crucial information in a comfortable women only environment.
The seminar was opened by Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Stern who welcomed and encouraged Haverim's initiative in the community.

Three sessions followed Rabbi Stern's opening, delivered by three leading oncologists from various hospitals across the country.
Dr. Tanir Allweis, manager of the Mammographic center at Kaplan medical center explained in length the different options for women after partial or full mastectomy, an important issue for women from every sector. Dr Allweis emphasized that all treatments and solutions are part of the national health care service in Israel and are free of charge '' women are women regardless of where they come form and they all deserve t preserve their body image''
Dr. Shani Paluch-Shimon, a top oncologist from Sheba hospital spoke about
Risk factors for breast cancer and noted that multiple pregnancies and breast feeding are both factors that reduce the risk for breast cancer.
Dr. Hadassa Goldberg, manager of the oncology institute in Nahariya hospital surprises the participants when she stated that survival rates are 90-95% when the cancer is discovered in its early stages.

But the participants received not only crucial medical information but also spiritual aid from Rabbi Menachen Stein who encouraged them to seek medical advice but also remember the strength of prayer and faith.
